Insufficient Storage available Galaxy s 2

I've been getting a notification saying "insufficient storage space" and it wont update any aps of let me download new music or anything. I only have about 42megabites of device memory left, but my 8GB memory card still has at least 4 GB left. Help?

SYSTEM memory is different from USER memory. While YOU have lots of storage left available, the PHONE apparently doesn't.

The phone uses its own memory allocation for things like apps, app data, call log, SMS/MMS messages, and caches. You can try deleting old messages (SMS Cleaner in Play is great for that), deleting the call log if it's huge, and cleaning out app caches. Uninstall apps you really don't use: you can always reinstall them later.
