Insurance

Ok. So I've spoken to 2 reps from sprint regarding the tep insurance. Apparently due to the policy changes that happened on the 9th. They are telling me that I cannot purchase TEP if I buy the phone from amazon, bestbuy etc. Can anyone confirm this? I plan on getting the epic this friday and I know I might run into some bugs and such which is why I'm getting the insurance. If this is true I have no other choice but to get it through sprint. Also they seem firm on the upgrade fee sticking.

This sound very odd. Sprint has been having "open enrollment" this past month where they took in any phone that was working. Now they don't want new phones on their insurance? You should get this in writing from the Sprint forum. If correct, it will be very important info for those people getting new lines. Go to Sprint Forums TEP: Sprint Community: Space: Order Support

Further, Best Buy specifically asks if you want TEP on the line. Sounds like you got some really questionable info.

You didn't mention if this is a new line. If you currently have TEP on your line, the insurance will carry over in any case.

UPDATE: I put the question to Sprint on the community forum, order support.

Sprint has addressed the question:

New Total Equipment Protection

No it is not correct. When you activate the device on to your line of service you have the option of adding TEP at that time.

Thanks Unplugged. Not sure why both reps I spoke with told me this. I guess they were trying to prevent me from getting the phone somewhere else. Anyways I appreciate the info

Most of the time, when a rep tells you it's something that "has to be done in their store" they are lying.
