Integrated dictionary missing from tablet red underlined text

I have a generic no-name tablet with Android 4.0, ICS. There's no integrated English dictionary with the keyboard, so there are no spelling suggestions other than from the custom dictionary and all text typed in apps like the email app gets underlined in red. So I loaded a couple of third party keyboards that do have the dictionary and now get spelling suggestions above the keyboard when typing, but the text continues to be underlined in red in the app. So it seems that the app spell checking uses a different source than the keyboard dictionary. I'd like to find a way to install a dictionary so the in-app spell check works and stops underlining in red. I really like the default ICS keyboard, so I'd love to have it work with that.

Hi, I'm having the same issue. I've switched to Super Keyboard so stuff I type gets corrected on the fly, but I edit quite alot of documents from others and it would be nice not to have to fire up my PC just to do a spell check before I send something on.

Is there any way to get and install a spell check dictionary for ICS?

Thanks :)

Try unticking the Spelling correction box in Settings (Settings / Language & input / Spelling correction). I have Go Keyboard installed and it works fine, but I unticked that box. If I tick it again, the red underlining re-appears even though spell checking is working.

Yeah, I did that to get rid of the red lines, but it doesn't solve the problem of not having a spell check for existing documents.
