Interested in getting the Prime

I was thinking of picking up the Prime as a gift to myself As far as I understand ICS will be available in Jan '12 for sure correct?

The other question is... how difficult is it to root? I don't want to buy a tab in this price bracket if I cannot root it.

no official date for ICS has been committed to by ASUS.
