Okay... these mature eyes have seen something I didn't expect to ever see:

I was on the deck this morning, hunting satellites moving overhead, and saw what appeared to be a TRAIN of freshly launched Starlinks trucking across the sky in a long line! I tried to grab a picture of it (you can make it out in the treeline) and Samsung's night mode did as well as it could given that it was really dark out there... but I broke my record with 16 satellites...

From a week or two ago, Iknow you can see the back of my house, but take another look at the sun, I know it is about usually noon when I take my walks but the tree lines look like they disapear.

Looks probable...

^^^ I have watched and read much about that tragedy, in the process gaining greater respect for Gordon Lightfoot. Indeed, I often sing that song on dog walks, and the lyric "Does anyone know where the love of God goes when the waves turn the minutes to hours?" are perhaps the most haunting ever penned.
I can't help but think how many families were affected by that unexpectedly accident, and while there have certainly been many, many tragedies of greater scope and effect, for some reason the sinking of "Big Fitz" stays with me.

They should have quit minting the cent when it started costing more to make than it represented. I understand that the nickel also costs more than five cents. I am as guilty as the next person. I often use cash for purchases but I never carry change. Tonight we went out to eat. I tipped and paid with cash. When I was given change, I took the paper and refused the coins. I have two containers at home. One holds silver and the other pennies. I'm not collecting, I cash it in ever few years. I love cash transactions but I hate change. They can round transactions to the nearest dollar and do away with all coins for all I care.
I read that the penny will continue to be recognized as legal tender with a value of 1/100 of a dollar. There isn't any way they can remove it from circulation. I suspect it will survive for many decades with it's worthless value.

The discussion can go in many directions.
Back before high tech "security strips" were added to the paper bills, there was a report I read about it costing a little over $5 to print one bill. The price could only get more expensive with time.

I too use cash for a vast majority of my transactions.
