Interesting

I already knew about it not necessarily deleting all of your personal information.

I know this because sometimes it already has my Wifi information saved on it.

Not really that big of a deal to me to be honest. I never get rid of my devices :)

Yeah i keep my old devices too ;) Just in case i screw my new 1 up, then i have a decent phone to play with :D

Thought it was interesting though, majority of people are led to believe that a factory reset will wipe all personnel data, so thought I'd share it.

:smokingsomb:

I've gotten phones with saved wi-fi spots so I figured that wasn't all that was still there. Never took the time to dig through and see what was there though, maybe I should. LOL.

I keep my old phones around too, cycle them through the family as needed. There really should be a better way to totally wipe a phone though.

I think it's because they know that users factory reset their devices more than once during the lifetime of their device and want the reinstall process to be as painless as possible.

Good point.

There should be another option then to totally, really remove every last spec of everything. A regular factory reset and a kill it, kill it good reset.

Hi fellow droid addicts,

I found these articles, both about the same thing. I was wondering what your opinions are?

If you are worried about the security, encrypt your phone. Android doesnt do that by default, it lets you decide. And the best part, i can choose whether to encrypt the device or the the external storage or both.

Deleting or even formatting doesnt really "wipe out" anything. They are still there but os things the space is empty. So, if you are concerned about the privacy, encrypt your device or use spesific sortwares to wipe it before selling.
