Intermittent Data outages

Has anyone experienced data outages on the Maxx ? I get them maybe once every other day. Sometimes I flip airplane mode on/off and it comes back. Many times it takes 30 minutes or so, with rebooting.

anyone else notice this ?

Had the same problem in Richmond, VA, yesterday and I happened to be in a Verizon store when it happened. No data/internet at all. The sales person switched the phone's network setting to "3G only" and told me to wait an hour and everything should be OK when I switch back to 3G/4G. This worked, I had data but at 3G speed, and since he knew what to do so quickly I think it is a known problem. I switched back in an hour and had 4G again. I have only had this problem once in the two weeks I have owned the phone.

I live in Fort Wayne, IN and mine has been ok today I have only had the data cut off two times only for 10 mins at a time

I periodically lose data, sometimes from a couple seconds and sometimes for a couple minutes. I'm thinking it's a combination of high use taxing the network and the 4g network being built out......but that's just a guess.

Looks like the phone could switch seamlessly from 4G to 3G when the 4G network is overloaded if this is the cause. And then switch back when it is available again. Probably will have this fixed in the future if this is behind the problem.

I've definitely had this problem! Even though wifi was on and I was at home, I still couldn't get any data access. Restarted my phone, and that seemed to work.

I was about to go into Verizon to swap out the phone for a new one...frustrating!

I thought I was the only one. I'm in Queens NY and I cant stand seeing my 3G/4G a white color every now and then back to blue. I got nervous that my phone was a bust. It must be a network thing or something. If anyone hears anything, Let me know!!

I have had this happen several times in Austin TX. Is there a quick way to get back on? even just 3G?

Just wait a bit.. or airplane mode might jog it into place.

FWIW, it's not a VZW issues, even ATT people with the stratosphere are having issues like this.... actually I think they are getting it worse than us.

I was told by a network engineer that is IS the network. Here in the Milwaukee area, I will lose data for short periods of time with 3-4 bars of signal (blue to white on display). Sometimes when it comes back, it will return in 3G for a period of time. The RAZR handles the switches much better than my Bionic did. Tower loads constantly fluctuate (or moving from one to the next on top of this).

And let's not even compare VZW's network to ATT... my neurotic co-workers on that network are in a non-stop bitch & complain cycle (usually starts when their call drops).

Lucky for us all, things are going to be changing in a huge way in the upcoming 1-2 years with major technology upgrades. It's exciting to hear network technologies supporting speeds 500x greater than 4G and virtually unlimited load. Our current networks will seem archaic in comparison.

I'm not sure what it is even when I put the phone on 3G and the data cuts off it will go to 1x but it only happened once today for less then 5 mins .... Still better then having slow AT&T

I've been noticing this once or twice a day myself. I've even had it happen at home while connected to Wi-fi, and it will say I have no data. The other day it happened, and my wife's Maxx was sitting right next to me. My phone had all white for signal, and her phone in my other hand had four bars 4G.

This would be my only complaint with the phone so far.

This has now happened to me multiple times today, and I haven't even used my phone that much. Right now both my wi-fi and data bars in the notifications bar at the top are grayed out. Yet it says I'm connected to my network and I'm sitting literally 3 feet from my router. When I try to launch any apps that use data, I get nothing. I've been watching my phone for about 5 minutes now, and nothing has changed. I just went and looked at my wife's Maxx, and it shows 4 bars 4G.

I finally went to airplane mode and back, and then I was showing both wi-fi and 4G.

To those of you having these issues, are you using the Smart Actions by chance?

This has gotten much worse for me over just the last couple days...

EDIT - checked 15 minutes after I posted this, and I had no data once again.

Yep, has been happening to me when I go from wifi to 4g. I'm in the seattle area. Rebooting the phone fixes it. I would assume there will be a fix coming down the pike?

Last night I was getting pretty ticked off when it happened for about the fourth time after I got home from work. I was holding my wife's Maxx in my other hand, with 4 bars of 4G. Then I noticed one difference - she didn't have Wi-fi on.

So I turned off wi-fi (I normally just left it on, and it would connect if there was a known network available). I've had wi-fi off for about 24 hours, and have not noticed a loss of signal a single time. That being after losing data four times in the matter of about 3 hours last night.
