Help Intermittent network/internet connection issues

I just got my Epic 4G touch yesterday and have already noticed that it lags a lot when browsing the internet, or facebook, or playing games that require internet connection, o0r when searching apps in the Market - it will time out and give load failures. I am SO disappointed after reading about how this phone is the best Android on the market right now. My messed up Evo 3G was faster than this and it froze 100+ times a day! -_-

Does anyone know if this an issue with the phone as a whole? Or is it possible I just got a bad phone out of the box? I have an appt. with Sprint at 6 tonight but I just wanna know what y'all may think about this.

I think it is pretty well accepted that the radio on this phone is not as strong as on others. If you live/work in an area with weak sprint signals this would be particularly true. As for me, my phone has been fine. I have noticed the market time out on occasion. I'm nut sure why as it doesn't seem to coorelate with weak signal areas. I find if I force close the market with the built in task manager then go back into it that it seems to fix the problem. I assume its a problem is with the way the market and the phone work together. Hope you figure it out!

Sad to say its a serious issue for many... Google Loss of Service for the Epic 4G Touch and you will see the internet forums (including Samsung s official support) are loaded with complaints..

I am having the exact same issue... Called Samsung yesterday and they acted like they had no clue about the issue.. They refereed me to Sprint... Called Sprint and they acted like they have no clue about the issue and told me to call Samsung...

After a round and round I was told to bring it to a Sprint repair center.... 3 hours later they give me my phone back and say noting is wrong with it...

Can you tell if you are roaming when you see the lag? Is it only an issue with 3G connections, or do you see it on WiFi as well? For me the performance of the E4GT has been outstanding, but some folks have reported that Sprint data speeds aren't the best.

This doesn't sound like the Loss of Service problem ... in that case you lose all connectivity and it won't come back on without a reboot. But, as 'da man' mentioned, the antenna in the E4GT does seem a bit weak compared to other phones, so you may be roaming more and not getting a real 3G connection.

I didn't try much with 4G at the time but it happened while using 3G and I had a strong signal at the time. I went to Sprint lastnight and they basically did a factory reset on it and it's been working great since then despite me having to re-do all my customizations >_< .

I had asked them what the point of it was since I hadn't really done too much with it since I had it less than 24 hours out of the box and they said if it happens again to go back and they would swap it. But I've been messing with it all day today and haven't had one disconnect issue thankfully.

I have played with the 4G today as well with downloading a few apps from the Market and cannot believe the difference! I hope it stays this way!! I will update soon on whether or not their "fix" stuck or not. Good to know that it seems to be a known issue, at least among consumers even if Samsung or Sprint won't acknowledge on either side -_-.

I am having the issue without roaming and it's on both 3G and wifi.. I believe the problem is somewhere with the wifi to 3G and/or 3G to wifi handoff...

Yes it's def a LOS issue....

I haven't noticed any roaming, although I have been anywhere with it yet other than areas there's always a strong sprint signal. I will keep an eye out for this.

But so far - still no trouble since they wiped it.
