Help Internal memory problem Galaxy Ace

Lurker
Hi,

Galaxy Ace running Gingerbread OS.

Tried searching but none of the answers I found seem to help. Anyway I had about 42mb of internal memory and tried to download an 32mb app from Android Market. Got a message saying that the download failed because of insufficient room in internal memory and to try again.

Problem is that the failed download seems to be hogging most of what was left of the internal memory, now down to about 10mb and giving me low internal memory messages.

Is there anyway to delete this file without rooting the phone, I'm not very technical and don't want to risk bricking the phone.

Will a factory reset work?

Any suggestions gratefully received as even deleting apps I don't use much won't give me much space back.

thanks

Andy

Hi & welcome. try *#9900# and select "copy to SD", be careful, only this option! Will move all the cr*p to your SD Card & then delete it from there. A new folder will appear on SD (in 'my files'). Also clear the "cache" from each app you have on app manager. Hope this helps. Graham :)

Graham,

Thanks tried this cleared a bit of space, but not what is causing the problem, which I think is a failed app download.

Anyone know if a factory reset will delete a stored failed app download?

Andy

Hi,

Problem seems to have resolved itself not sure why but not too bothered I guess.

Andy

You don't need to worry about the failed downloads if your downloading through the Play Shop(Android Market). It will be removed automatically.

Hi,

Thanks for the info, I guess that's what happened then, good to know for the future.
