Help Internal Storage limit? what's your maximum? (sorry, there's not enough space...)

Question:

Has anyone with an Incredible (or htc device?) ever gotten close to filling up the 748mb's of phone memory? What's your maximum?

I know there's a weird storage notification that comes up w/ the Incredible, and correct me if I'm wrong, no one TRULY knows why it happens, right?

So I'm trying to install the MiniSquadron Special Edition. I get this message: "Sorry, there's not enough space to install this item."

I have 487MB available space free in my 748mb's of phone memory.

Why can't I install this item? I am NOT getting the "Low SPace" or "low storage" warnings on my phone currently.

HTC recommends a hard reset. Taking it to Verizon today, something tells me I think they will recommend the same thing.

Do I have to? Any solutions? I have a suspicion that if I DO do a hard reset, and reinstall the exact same things on my phone... the same thing will happen.

So, I reiterate my original question:

Has anyone with an Incredible (or htc device?) ever gotten close to filling up the 748mb's of phone memory? What's your maximum?

Or does everyone get this problem, and there's really only 300mb of storage?

Usually that error has to do with the space left on your sd card. Try installing the app without the sd card in.
I don't have a lot of apps on my phone so I've never come close to filling it up.

well, i have a 16gb card in it, and i'm not near filling it.

i tried taking the card out and then installing it, but no change.

took it to the verizon store today... no help.
the technician was telling me that i was getting the error because of the processes i had running... and i asked him if he meant RAM... he said yeah.
and then he tried to tell me the 700mb i had on my phone was my RAM... i had to correct him and tell him it was my app storage, NOT my available RAM...

ugh. he said that if i were to hard reset, it might fix the error, that this was an android OS error.

i dunno if i believe him.

i wish there was an Android Store, like there is an Apple Store, where I can take my phone to and know that the person is certified in Android, etc.

Hard to say, that error has the most elusive fix, haven't seen anyone pinpoint it to one app or storage partition. I've seen people say that uninstalling apps has fixed it and others say clearing caches like you have.

Ps verizon technicians are useless, suprised he didn't tell you to install a task manager.
A factory reset will fix the error though but it could still come back.

lol about the task manager bit. so true.

i'm hoping there's a way to fix this error, so annoying. could this have anything to do w/ the fact that i just put in a new 16gb card and not my stock 2gb? i think i read something on xda about people needing to partition their sd card... i dunno about that...

I'm using that program and I am running UrukDroid 0.7 and am having this problem with Market. I used this beta program to check on my partitions and I have a 16GB Archos 101 with a 16GB Class 4 MicroSD. When I run this program it states I have 7.3GB free internal and 6GB free on SD. Therefore, no space issues I am guessing. My RAM is running 256 with another 192 SWAP, showing 100MB free of the 256 (not even touching the 192). So I am at a loss, still looking for an answer though...

I just started getting the problem myself. It seems that any app around 20MB cannot be downloaded. I tried clearing my cache but of no avail. I got rid of a ton of apps and I still have the problem. I emailed the android market tech support and they told me to clear the data from the download manager and the market app. I was able to do so for the download manager but the option for the market was greyed out and was unable to clear the data. There is 2.27MB of data in the market app, could this cause the problem and is there a way for me to delete this data?

Btw, I have plenty of room on my internal phone storage (478mb) and 5.2 on the SD.

Read the "low on space" bug thread that is stickied on top of the support subsection. Start with page 12, then that very first post (with all the edits), then the last couple pages, and then just start randomly picking pages.
