I have the original Atrix..If I format my internal mem. will I loose my phone numbers.

Yes, Unless you have them backed up to your sim card.

No, not if they were saved as Google contacts. If they're Google contacts they'll sync (download to your phone) from the cloud automatically. If not then you will lose them.

I have all of my contacts in my Google account also in my Exchange account as well, so that I don't have to worry about losing them. If you have them backed up your fine.
