Internal Storage

Good Morning.

Just got My new HTC one M8 and i already seem to be half way to filling up the internal storage. I've not installed that many apps on the phone but if I go into settings and storage it shows that I have 8.374gb of apps installed and only have aavailable 5.53GB of free space.
Just wondered if anyone else is having the same issue or if its just me.

Cheers

I would go into settings >apps>all and press the menu button and sort them by size and see what is takig up so much space. Google play music can be one of the biggest offenders if you are setting it to store music on your device from the cloud.

Do you have an SD card? Are you storing photos and videos on your internal memory? I never recommend this for several reasons:

1. If anything ever damages your device and you are not using an external service to sync pictures and videos you will lose everything, where an SD card you can just remove.

2. It allows you to easilly move photos and videos to a new device.

3. If you ever need to wipe the phone you will not lose your media

but how do you move them? :-\ pc copy i guess
I believe you can move files by going to settings>storage and then select make more space. It should let you move from sd to internal and vice versa. I've used it to delete files on the sd card because astro isn't working properly with kit Kat I think.

HTC reply,
This is a feature that Google added to their operating system and there is unfortunately nothing we can do with it as it is Google's decision to add this to Android.

You can also just plug the phone into ur PC and move files that way as a workaround since KitKat pretty much borked the SD card

It's pretty simple to do on a pc. I would advise doing that too, for the reasons listed above. But mainly because of the possibility of damage.

I've used Astro File Manager for years. it allows you to move files between storage areas, including cloud storage like Google Drive, Dropbox, etc. And, it does not require root.

I know this is an old thread but i bought a 32 gig card and thought I had transferred all my pics and videos to it cause i was getting phone storage low message. It says I have 19 gigs of pics and video over 2,000 files. I went to disk drive and cut and pasted my whole 100 media folder to a new folder on my desktop which says it's 19.3 Gigs 1,134 files. My phone is still full and I need to know how to take everything in my gallery an d move it to sd card. I just took my sd card out thinking I would see my internal stuff like my gallery but I don't and Astro is on my sd card so I need to put it back in I guess but where do I go to transfer my gallery pics and videos to my sd card and will they still show up in Gallery. I changed my phone for pics to go to sd card when I got the card and somehow it was changed back.
