Root [International] About to buy m7. Is it easy to get pure android installed?

Hey guys,

I'm about to buy a used m7 htc one. My intention is to install a "pure" android version on it. Does that work without trouble?
1. Is that possible with every HTC one m7 or might I end up with one where it doesn't work?
2. If I flash a google play edition android on it, will I get updates or does that screw things up?
3. Are there some indicators if there might be a few more updates for the m7 from the community or will the phone definitely be stuck on a version sometime soon?

Hey guys,

I'm about to buy a m7 htc one. I live in Canada so I don't know which version it will be. My intention is to get a "stock"/pure android 4.4.x installed because it will have htc sense or whatever its called.

just don't get the GPE and you will have Sense based OS. My One AT&T has gone through no less than 5 updates in a year and a half. 6 if you count the one I did myself last night ;) | Android 4.4.3 KitKat | Sense UI 6.0 |

I was thinking of flashing a google play edition version on a used M7. Why is GPE so bad? I really like stock android. I'm just wondering if that works without much hassle?

GPE is not bad if youre willing to lose zoe, boomsound, and other stock sense features. just make a nandroid of your stock backup so you can return to it,and i personally would recomend to become s off prior to makeing any changes above and beyond a custom recovery and rom.

cyanogen mod is,IMO,a better way to get AOSP than GPE. its made from google source code and has some tweaks and options that GPE wont have. GPE is also using an htc kernel and possibly based on htc's framework(tho i havent confirmed or disproved that yet) so any updates will have to come from htc.
