Root [International] Accidentally broke the screen of rooted International S3 under warranty

Hello people,

I looked everywhere but couldn't find the question or its answer. So I have a two month old SGS3 (international) in India. I had rooted it the day I got it. Yesterday it fell from 2 feet height and broke the screen internally. There are no scratches or cracks from outside at all. Now that I could partially see screen and the phone was rebooting again and again after the logo (of slim bean) used to flash for a while. I re-flashed the stock rom and now I sent it for repairing. But the thing is that I did not re-set the flash counter. Physical damage is of course not covered under warranty. But I was wondering if they will cancel my current warranty if by any chance they see it was rooted and flashed with some custom rom?
 
I doubt it. Since you caused this damage youll obviously have to pay for it. If something that isnt your fault happens in the future and you reset the counter before sending it for repair via the warranty then they have no right to refuse to fix it for free (imo)
I wouldnt worry about it mate :)

Really? Hope that is so true! Because I've read this thing that 'rooting = warranty void'. So I always implied once they note it in their system, no more warranty for the particular phone.
 
I highly doubt they'd void it, or even check.

You aren't claiming damages under warranty. They'd have no reason to look at it
 
Yes I too think you are worrying unduly. Your paying for the repair (bad luck, that by the way, dropping it) so they have no reason to go into download mode to check your flash counter. Reset it if you ever need another repair, just to be sure.

I know! I just bought a hard case cover a day before dropping it, can you believe it? :mad: They're going to charge 100USD to fix it. Yep will reset it next time I go there (though I hope not).
