Root [International] Can't dial codes

legaliser

Newbie
When i try to use the ''secret'' codes, i get the error message network problem or invalid mmi code, any suggestions or help?

Kind regards,

Welcome to the forum legaliser.

Are you rooted and running a custom Rom as you'll find a few roms which don't play nicely with the codes.

Thankyou shot, for the reply
I'm running a stock rom, actually everything is stock.
Some codes work, like the *#06# for your imei, maybe i use codes
for a different version? Myself, I've got the SGS 3 GT I-9300

That's a possibility. There are codes which will work on the international version but not the us ones and vice versa so it could be that the codes are for one of the us variants.

Which codes are you trying to use?

I'll move this over to the main gs3 forum:)

Yea sorry, I'm very new to this forum thing,
I'm trying to back-up my imei using the *#7284# (USB I2C Mode Control)
because i keep reading that people mess it up when they load a nonstock rom,
and it would be just a thing that could happen to me and i'm very interested in the whole change your phone, so just to be sure

that wouldbe very nice of you,
I've searched the internet on how to root it,
and the number one thing that comes up is Odin, now the way
odin works, looks a lot easier than the app you just mentioned,
so the rooting will go smoothly, but if you could help using the app
you would be a phone savier!

No problem.

The app is actually pretty straight forward for backing up your efs. For this purpose you only need to worry about 2 of the options. All you need to do is press the backup efs to sd tab andit'll perform the backup in a matter of seconds. It should then ask you if you want to check the backup so do this and then you're done. Make a copy of the backup and store it somewhere else just in case the original gets deleted. If you ever need to restore just press the restore efs from backup tab.

I'll move this back to all things root:)

Thankyou very much!
ive got a problem now, i used odin to root it, but now when odin starts to load my phone gets stuck in download mode, it says downloading do not turn off target, and then with a blue bar underneath,
also odin doesnt send anything it says:
<ID:0/005> Odin v.3 engine (ID:5)..
<ID:0/005> File analysis..
<ID:0/005> SetupConnection..
<ID:0/005> Initialzation..
<ID:0/005> Get PIT for mapping..
<ID:0/005> Firmware update start..
<ID:0/005> PK
<ID:0/005> NAND Write Start!!

its now been stuck for 5min

I'd disconnect the phone from your pc and remove the battery and shut down Odin and then try again.

I tried a hundred times, also tried several different odin versions, (re)installed samsung drivers put the usb debugging in development options, and still on the download screen the blue bar keeps stopping at what looks like 99.99%..

It's always a pleasure. I'm glad you're sorted.

So next is to backup your efs folder using the ktool app I linked you. Then download titanium backup or any similar backup app and backup your apps. Then boot your phone into recovery mode (power off then volume up, home and power) and to backup and restore and backup your phone (known as a nandroid).

Once everything is backed up you'll be able to choose a custom Rom and start flashing.

Honestly I've learnt most of it from fellow members here. When I joined I knew little about android but with a lot of help and a bit of trial and error I almost sound like I know what I'm talking about:D
