Root [International] Custom ROM noob

Hi everyone,

I apologise if this has already been asked. I did check the stickies and tried some searches.

Is there a good one-stop-shop for someone who's never flashed a custom ROM but wants to? I've rooted all Android phones I've ever owned but never flashed a ROM.

I'm computer-literate, but I keep reading about kernels, radio etc. and want to minimise (or preferably eliminate) the chances of bricking my phone.

Any links would be very much appreciated :)
 
Checkrom is a nice beginner friendly Rom. It's basically stock with a couple of tweaks and the bloatware removed. You can add the bloatware back and other mods after you've flashed using the included kitchen app. Using the kitchen will mean there's no chance of flashing anything to the Rom which isn't compatible.
CheckROM

To install.
1. Backup your apps with titanium or similar
2. Download the Rom to your phone
3. Boot into recovery mode
4. Make a nandroid backup
5. Clear data
6. Clear cache
7. Clear dalvik (in advanced)
8. Format system (in mounts and storage)
9. Select install zip from sd
10. Choose zip from sd (external) or internal sd depending on where you saved the Rom
11. Find the Checkrom zip and flash

So I don't have to worry about modem incompatibilities or anything like that?

Thanks for this! Really helped me as its also my first flash.

So far im massively impressed with this ROM. I really like the Kitchen app which has allowed me to theme and add different things to the phone.
