Noob Q. Hey all, I've got the SGS4 I9505 on 4.2.2 XXUBMG4. I'm wanting to root purely to remove the bloatware provided by my telco, do I still need to flash a custom recovery? Or is that just a routine thing to do when rooting your device?
The ChainFire Auto-Root for our phone installs the stock recovery. So I'm sure you can keep that recovery, if you want to. Not sure why you would, though. The custom recoveries give you a lot of nice options.
To remove apps you wouldn't need a custom recovery however I'd recommend flashing one if only for the purpose of doing a nandroid backup if anything should go wrong when removing the bloatware.
