Root [International] expert advice please

Hi all

im currently running neatom and persues alpha kernel with philz touch and im wanting a change anyone got anytime to help me with advice on other roms and kernels tjats beat for my phone.

i have samsung galaxy s3 on orange network....international...4.1.2

Can tell you what I'm on, but as long as you do a full nandriod backup first in Philz recovery just try out a few ROM/kernel combos and see what you like. That way if you don't like what you see just restore to get back to working Neatrom Perseus setup.

Personally I've stuck with Wanamlite ROM (not the 4.2.2 leak) and Siyah kernel. Stable, smooth and with Stweaks app can tweak Siyah kernel settings to squeeze out battery life. Droidphile also has a useful profile switcher app plus some profiles he has setup so you can change kernel settings easily. Cos I like a bit of theme flavour I also have Motomoto's theme installed.
 
i always do a back up before i change anything. i had the wanamlite rom and something kept goin wrong with it im not sure what the cuase but i changed rom and kernal and seems fine now. i want to change my themes x
 
Depends what you want from a rom. I use Neat Lite with Siyah kernel and its just completely stable but ive been thinkin of trying something that isnt Samsung based like Cyanogen. Ive never tried one of their roms on any phone :)

I'm in the process of downloading CM 10.1 now, I was interested in trying it again because they've fixed the camera (so now it works) and the memory leaks/battery drain has been improved quite a lot. I'll let you know how it goes :)

Edit: for some reason I can't download anything this evening, maybe I'll have better luck tomorrow
 
for battery life, customisation, and a general all round brilliant performing rom, try UltimaRom with the latest Siyah kernel :)

You've got a pretty good setup there already, but I know what you mean when a change is needed :)

To be honest, a lot of the ROMs you'll encounter are going to be very similar in terms of appearance and what they do, but they all have their little added bits.

If you want a stock-like touchwiz ROM (like NeatROM) you could try WanamLite, which is where I believe most other custom ROMs base theirs from.

If you want to keep on Touchwiz, but want a enormous amount of customisation, I would go for UltimaROM, which is a huge file (1.5 GB) but has so many options to change basically anything about the phone you want. It also has a nice AOSP theme throughout, and my favourite addition which is the AOSP browser (which is the best one ever :D)

If you want to go really different, Cyanogenmod is perhaps worth a try. It's gotten a lot more stable recently (I'm currently trying it out and liking it a lot now) but it's not as solid as Touchwiz. CM 10.1 is running Android 4.2.2, so you get to use the latest and greatest Android version :)
**Please bear in mind that if you choose CM 10.1, most kernels will not be compatible and will most likely cause some damage if you try and flash them. If you want to go the CM route and want a new kernel, check the first post on the xda thread of the kernel and it should tell you. If you're stuck let me know :)

P.s, is there an app for the customisations or is it all done with the aroma mate?

mostly done in aroma. but in settings> it has some pretty nifty little tweaks, usually found on AOKP roms. its rock solid, and is constantly being updated by the dev.
 
Thanks mate il try that tonight :thumbup: tried it lastnight but i was usin the official 3 APN that block torrents n was too lazy to change it lol. Are roms in torrents safe if the link is on XDA?
Hmm it wont let me login. Is a premium xda membership needed for the torrents mate?
Wonder why normal download keeps failing. I dont usualy have problems with big files. It doesnt even say like download failed, it says "download complete" when it isnt :(
