[International / GSM] No Flash Player 11 (GSM Galaxy Nexus)

Firstly, I'd like to assert that I love, love, love this phone. To me, all Nexus devices define Android -- period. I am currently running a stock, oedexed 4.2.x Jellybean ROM, and the thing is -- of course, as expected -- AMAZING. It's fast, fluent/fluid, and PURE. Everything seems to be working appropriately except for one small issue: I seem to not have access to Adobe Flash Player 11 (if any at all). I was wondering if Adobe and Google stopped collaborating, or if this was an issue that requires attention and correction. I watch a lot of videos from flash-based sites on my Nexus, so I really hope it is -- the latter -- an issue that can be attended to and resolved.

Additionally, after installing the stock, rooted ROM, I was presented with a notification alerting me that I was eligible for upgrade to Android 4.2. It seemed odd because I am already running 4.2... Anyway, I played around with the phone a little to get a feel for it and decided to go ahead and attempt to install the update to see if anything would change(?); nothing seems to have changed at all. My question for you all is: will this have negative affects on my phone later on, or is it perfectly fine to install OTA updates on stock, rooted ROMs? (I hope it's the latter.)

Side notes: I am new, in a sense, but I am a quick learner and I am extremely technologically literate; so go easy on me (kinda). If I run into any issues, I will ask more questions.

Thanks in advance!
Dee

And, by the way, I don't have ICS; I have JB. Adobe's archives are for ICS. :-(

Edit: it downloaded for me. Thanks, man.

Do you know how I can update to 4.2.1? Also, do you have the answer to my second question in the OP?

It will still work.

Adobe has stopped support for all mobile platforms. Hence no specific jb

They don't officially support jellybean, but you can install them and they will work on jellybean as long as you use a browser that supports flash. Chrome Mobile doesn't but I believe firefox and the stock browser do.

Do you know how I can update to JBB 4.2.1 without having to wipe my entire phone. If not, and I do have to wipe, do you know of any stock 4.2.1 ROMs?

If you're stock, installing an ota over 4.2 won't require any wiping. If you install a custom rom that is based on stock, it will require wiping. Popular stock roms tend to be CM10.1, and Jelly Belly. Popular roms that have lots of mods include JBSourcery(with devs who post on these forums frequently), Eclipse, and AOKP.

I'm rooted stock, so I'm just going to flash the updated ROM atop of 4.2. It's on www.galaxynexusroot.com. (downloading now, btw.)
Thanks for all of your help.

if you're going to flash it in your own customer recovery, i would wipe cache and dalvik. If using the stock recovery to flash an ota, you should be ok.

Hi all. I'm new here, and haven't had a smartphone before, so go easy on me please.

I'm thinking of getting a Samsung Galaxy Nexus (16GB black) here in the UK, and although I appreciate it's mentioned higher up, I just want 100% confirmation if possible that IF I get the phone, that I'll be able to get Adobe Flash Player on it, as there's a couple of sites I go on that do require it, either to play a specific game (goalunited if any of you know it) or to play video (eg the BBC site if I'm right uses flash to play video on their site), so obviously I want to be 100% certain that I'll be able to do all that if I do get this phone if it does upgrade to Jellybean 4.2 etc.

Really sorry if it seems an obvious question, it's more for my own piece of mind that it'll 100% work if I do what I apparently need to do to get Flash on the phone if I get it (though I'd probably need a bit of guidance to make sure I did it all right). Oh and if it's relevant, ideally I'd be wanting to use Mozilla Firefox (don't know if that'd affect anything to do with this either).

Hi to everyone all the same though :)

Hello and Welcome. To answer your question, yes you will be able to use flash on this device. It isn't as simple as it once was because flash isn't available in the Google Play store anymore, but if you download the latest version from adobe's archives, and then use a browser that supports flash, then it will be fine. Firefox does support flash, so if you download the apk and install it, you should be fine. :)

Thanks. I'm just slightly concerned about the fact I've seen SD cards mentioned to do it, yet if I'm right, the Galaxy Nexus doesn't actually have 1.

No, the only thing you need is the enable installation from unknown sources, the apk, and the firefox browser and your good to go :)

Excellent :) Although this isn't strictly on topic, the only thing I can see that seems to be a regular thumbs down in reviews is the camera. I'm not overly fussed by taking pictures really, so I suppose that's not too big an issue for me. Ok I can see a couple of other things like battery life isn't stunning, and it not being quad core like some newer phones are, but then I don't want to be spending stupid money a month on a phone (eg ideally no more than maybe
