Root [International] Hello...total Upset Smarphone Newb here ... ...

ArtScott

Lurker
I am a total newb to the world of Smart Phones....
Just got my GN2 (GT- N7105) and so far it is the worse phone I have ever had....now that could be do my not knowing how to properly use it
so does the sim card (Walmart T-Mobile Unlimited ) have any bearing on how well a phone works?

I can't receive any calls where I live (in a basement), my dumb phone does ok there.... it even told me no network available in my driveway , .... it never shows more than just the 1st bar and it is only a partial.

Or is this a prob with Factory Unlocked Int'l Phones?

no one i know has any problem with their Samsung or HTC phones.

THANX IN ADVANCE.

You might want to check with your carrier's footprint. If you are well in the covered area and have lousy service, something is not right. The sim card will have nothing to do with your reception or lack of. I believe before I went very far I'd have a chat with your provider and see what they recommend.

There is a learning curve with a new phone.. especially going from dumb to smart. They all should function as a phone however and I'm certain it's not due to anything on your part. Either they have lousy coverage at your location or there is a radio problem of some sort with your phone.

Welcome to these forums by the way. It's great to have you here. I hope you will continue to use these forums for all of your questions. There are a great number of knowledgeable members here that love sharing information and helping out their fellow members.

Thanx Olbriar. Yes I will call them in tomorrow. If they have no idea I will return for an exchange......this has gotta work as a tablet and Photo portfolio device and Phone of course... ... does work great hooking up to internet using WIFI and makes a great Alarm Clock.... :) :)

Well Samsung CSR was no help...to get any help I have to find out country of origin then call that service center for help.... :( :( :( So I guess it will go back to where I bought it. All the major deralers in town (T-Mobile, AT&T and Best Buy all told me the same thing... all you should need is to get our (t-mobile & AT&T) sim card and plan....Best Buy said to decide whos unlimited plan I wanted and go with it.... also was told at BEST BUY to get a dual simm adapter for both cards could stay in phone all the time so risk of losing one of the mwould be very minimal....now I am just upset. and have no idea where to go from here. Hmmmmm. :( :(
