Root [International] Help with modems plz peeps!

funkylogik

share the love peeps ;)
So im still on EMC2. since moving home a couple weeks ago my data speeds (3 UK) have plummeted.
Would changing modem (possibly) help?
And does anyone have a link to an up to date list of flashable modem zips?
Cheers

O2 fella, I found XXMS2 just about the same as XXEMB1 so just went back to that.

Might be an O2 thing, but slam full signal nearly every where I go.

I'm thinking of moving away from Three - they definitely lack signal compared to Vodafone and O2. This is the reason I'll never tie myself into a contract again! Rolling plans every time!

I would copy out the original first just to be safe mate, or like lazy me just search and download to pc what you are using now ready to flash back just in case. Better to give modems couple days if you can to settle before final decision made.

Well.... it turns out that nandroid DOES backup your modem despite everyone on g+ saying it doesnt. Thank **** for that lol. The MS2 modem soft bricked me (no idea why) and the copy of EMC2 i downloaded refused to flash!!
Must admit i panicked a bit because my phone is the ONLY source of internet in my house lol so i couldnt even have used the lappy to find another modem.
Nandroid saved my arse once again. Thanks Kousche :beer:

Jesus soft brick bloody hell form a modem, praise be to the nan' god, never bothered to check in my nands as any modem cock ups for me in the past were soloved by the back up flash again.

Lol it made me sweat a bit when i restored the nand and hit reboot lol. Its saturday night so most people are out, i suppose i could have took the lappy to weatherspoons n used their wifi lol. Now im paranoid about flashin kernels (edit, MODEMS). Was that the exact file you used mate?

File , modem? I have flashed the drop box link I gave a couple of times to test without problem at all but saw no difference so went back to XXEMB1.
As for kernel if that's your question I use Googy Max 1.7
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2270158

Have tried 1.7.1 and 1.7.2 but both seem battery eaters to me, 1.7 on JBam 10.3 with Greenify running seems to take the mickey the battery lasts sooooo long!

So after thinking bout this logikally ive considered that nandroid probably DOESNT backup the modem. I think the zip i flashed didnt even change the modem, it just messed up some part of the system so restoring my nandroid just fixed that(?) What u guys think?

Possibly right mate what I don't get is I have flashed that zip a couple of times with no problem, just did it again earlier with no problem. Not trying to teach you how to suck eggs but you did wipe cache and dalvik before and after the zip flash before rebooting?
Only thing I could think off is maybe in the upload to drop box/download maybe it's broken/ damaged the file in some way? Earlier I did use the file already on my pc here not drop box one.
Sam mobile for BTU gives I9300XXEMG4
O2 gives I9300BWELK1
H3g gives I9300NELK2
EVR gives I9300BVEMF1

Thanks bud. Yeah i did wipe cache, dalvik after flashing but not before mate. Ill have another play around tonight
