Root [International] How to t saw a urn my European HTC One to a Thai HTC One?

samz

Newbie
Hello,
How to turn my European HTC One to a Thai HTC One?

I bought a new HTC One (M7) in Switzerland for a Thai friend. When I turn on the phone, I can select a language in the list of the pull-down menu. The Thai language is missing in this list and I would to add this language.

1. Can I get the Thai language if I flash the phone with a firmware using ODIN?

2.a Which firmware should I use to get the Thai language, and where to download it? I would like to use the HTC official firmware, this one pre-installed in HTC One sold in Thailand.
2.b Same question for the Samsung Galaxy S4.

3. If I understood the guide below, a hard-reset* will not reset the phone to the original HTC firmware pre-installed on the phone when I bought it. Isn't it?

* After flashing the phone with another firmware.

Thanks in advance and regards.

1) Don't know about where you'd get HTC firmware, but the process should be similar to what you'd do with Samsung.

2) No guarantee that there's not some hardware differences between the Swiss and Thai versions of the phone that will cause the Thai firmware to brick the phone.

3) For Samsung, go to SamMobile Firmwares, put in the model number (not S4) of the Thai phone and find the firmware for Thailand (and for the correct crrier, if there's more than one). An orange box at the right end of the line mens you use Kies to update the phone with the new firmware. No orange box means you use Odin to flash it.

(Odin is used for Samsung phones, HTC probably has their own programs to use for that.)

Again - no guarantee that putting firmware in a phone that didn't come with it won't brick the phone (so have the Swiss version ready to reflash, just in case.)

correct,a hard reset will not change firmware. it will just wipe any and all user data from all areas of the phone its store in,bringing it to an "out of the box" state.

to completely convert a device to anotehr device, youll need to be s off and rooted.at that point that basic steps are:
-change cid
-change mid
-run a signed ruu for the firmware you want to be on.

youll need to know a build number for a factory version that you want to convert to,if you want to try and go this route. most importantly is the xxx part of the build number: x.xx.xxx.x

as was said, there can be differences in formware that will casue it to not run on some devices,so make 100% sure what you want to do is coimpatible with your phone.

the other option you have is to simply install a custom rom, wich you can technically do with only an unlocked bootloader(tho i recomend s off-it can make your life considerably easier)

you might search on xda for a rom that supports your language:
