Root [International] [Looking to root] Won't show up on computer

First off i want to say hi to everyone first time registered on the forums. Found a lot of help before and never really had to register, until i got this phone from hell lol. I got this htc one and im trying to root it. The main problem im having is when i click on my computer the device doesn't pop up. When i plug in the phone to the computer with the usb the computer doesn't automatically download the driver. I've tried a few different things. I have changed the usb cable to see if it was the problem 3 cables and no luck. Changed the usb port that i connected the phone six ports later no luck either. Ive tried it on my laptop and same thing. I get nothing when i plug in the phone. Ive download and installed htc sync and nothing. Downloaded and installed the drivers and the 64bit older drivers and nothing. Ive uninstalled and switched cables and re installed and switched ports and plugged in the device before i turned on the computer and so far no luck. The computers are using windows 7 64bit if that matters and the phone is from sprint and it has android 4.4.2 installed on it.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. On the third day with no success so far. I've looked at lot of different places and no solutions. If you need any more info reply away. Thanks.

Welcome to the forum :)

If it's for rooting, then look at this thread. The second post tells you how to set up the drivers necessary for rooting and includes some links to drivers you can use.

I'm not a Windows person, so I'm afraid I've never had to worry about this myself!

oh sorry forgot to included that yes. i did put it in debug mode on and off between the installs and uninstalls and nothing but thanks for the reply.

I didn't the first post. Well i can root it i just need to see if on the computer because it not popping up for me to be able to do anything with it.

also forgot to put that if im lucky when i go into my computer i see it as a CD drive but when i click on it i dont get anything. Ive tried to right click to go to properties to uninstall driver and i dont see anything there. And ive also gone into device manager and i don't see anything that says portable devices. And when i go to discover the device it never shows up.

tap on "Buiild Number" in About>Software Information>More until you unlock developer.

Then proceeded to Settings>Developer Options> and turning on USB Debug.

You might need to install the following drivers if you still cannot connect to your computer:

Where to i put these drivers or how do i install them don't think ive tried this one.

It is unlikely to work since it doesn't look like your computer is recognizing the phone at all. However you can plug in your phone, go into device manager on your computer and see if you see the phone. If you do, unzip the files, right click on the phone in device manager and update drivers, browse and select the folder you unzipped.

Then see if the phone works.

If that does not work I am sorry, but you will have to exchange the phone.

Yeah it doesn't seem to recognize the phone at least not with the methods i have tried. Returning or selling the phone is one of my last resorts. And one i would not like to do.

have you tried different cables and ports on the pc? even an older pc? if you can borrow or use an older laptop or desktop, the files you need to root are very small, and unobtrusive.

and i have learned the hard way that not all usb cables are created equal ;)

Thanks for chiming in to help. Unfortunately he did try those suggestions already (post 1). None of them worked so at this point there is something wrong with the phone.

Seems you have nothing to loose at this point and hence, I suggest you give these drivers a try Koush. I used them as a last resort because I had the same problem as you, but with Windows 8.1, also notorious for connection problems with HTC.

not sure how i missed that, i swear that stuff wasnt there when i posted :o

at this point it does appear to be an issue with the device itself.

only other thing i can think of,is to try a mac or linux computer, where drivers are not needed. you could make a bootable cd of ubuntu 12.04 and try it with that.

do you or friends have any other htc devices you can test on your PC? if other htc phones work on your pc,then it would remove almost all doubt something to do with your device.

does internal storage pop up for file transfer?
