Root [International] *MAC USER* CWM: Root E:signature verification failed: HELP?

s1mon87

Newbie
Firstly, I am a Mac user so I do not have access to Odin.

I have followed the step by step instructions to root my Galaxy S3 i9300 which is currently running the Official Samsung firmware XXLLA 4.1.2 Jelly Bean.

I got as far as installing from the external SD Card via CWM when I got a message displaying 'E:Signature Verification Failed'.

I am stuck now because I can see that people have solved the issue via Odin.
The Mac alternative is Heimdall.

IS ANYONE HERE A MAC USER THAT CAN HELP ME OUT?

Thank you.

Welcome to the forum.

Is that the superuser cwm zip which won't flash?. If it is try downloading supersu from the play store and then install an app which requires root access to see if you have root.

I've tried that and when I open SuperSU it displays a message 'There is no SU binary installed and SuperSU cannot install it. This is a problem.'

There's an option somewhere in the CWM settings to toggle the signature verification check setting on/off, if on it checks zip files you flash for a valid digital signature. Can't remember where the option is though, maybe under advanced - once you find it press once and you should see a message saying it's toggled off, press again to toggle on etc. The SU zip you are trying to flash isn't signed so you just need to toggle off to flash.

It used to be under the "Install zip from SD card" menu.... but I haven't used CWM for a while now because:

1) its crap
2) Its dangerous if you have the VTU00M 0xF1 chip.... as per my thread here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2091045

Anyway, its a menu option somewhere in recovery that toggles on and off signature verification. It needs to be off.
