Root [International] PLEASE help me get back to stock

olie3146

Lurker
So after 9 hours of tearing my hair out and smoking far too much I'm holding my hands up and asking for help.

Please I know I'm a newbie and you probably get 100's of these types of threads every day, but I just need a little help on where I'm going wrong

LONG STORY SHORT
My phone (HTC One M7, UK Vodaphone) is being picked up for repair tomorrow. I have been trying to get it back to stock so far I have managed :

Bootloader is back to *** LOCKED ***
the phone is currently S-Off but I know how to get it back to on
Running OTA stock 2.24.161.1 (installed via Guru Reset)

The only thing I can see that is showing that it's still not stock is in Kernel version it says
3.4.10-g445d072
root@abm014#1
SMP PREEMPT

Does that me my phone is still rooted? I've read so many guides today my brain has turned to mush........ thanks in advance for any and all help

Sorry, didn't see this until now, when it's almost a week too late. Yes, if someone looks at the kernel version and sees it isn't stock then they'll know that the software has been modified. That doesn't mean that it currently is rooted, but it does mean that it has been at some point (and anyway any warranty issues aren't about rooting per se, but modifying system software).

However, it's a much more subtle thing than "unlocked, tampered" on the bootloader screen or a cyanogenmod logo when you boot the phone up, so hopefully they'll either not notice or (if they are reasonable and it's clearly a hardware problem) not care.

Fingers crossed :)
