Root [International] Quick question about rooting..

hurang

Newbie
Somewhat new to rooting so, it's actually a 2-part question, but first of all:
1: Will the roms being made and tested right now on the international version of the phone be compatible with the US version when it is released, or will we have to wait for it to be tweaked for a possibly different kernel or software version or something?
2: Looking at roms on here and XDA, I see on their update logs that they "update" some of their apps to newer versions in each update of the rom. Like one had 5 update logs, each one had a newer version of google maps or gmail. With a rom, is it possible to update all apps as you normally would on a stock unrooted phone, or do you need to flash updated rom to receive the updates?

Thanks in advance.

1. You will need a rom specific to the hardware of your phone, so no, you won't be able to use the GSM roms as they will be incompatible.

2. Yes you can update the apps as normal. No you don't have to flash a new rom to receive the updates. The inclusion of the latest versions of the apps is just to save you having to update them yourself. :)

Although I didn't need the information thought I would thank you for that post davoid, I see lots of helpful posts from you in the S3 forums. Nice work.
