International Roaming

With the new UK roaming tariffs being capped, O2 have announced that for data roaming in Europe they will charge no more than 1.99 per day for up to 25MB - somewhat more reasonable than their previous charge of over 3 pounds per megabyte!

I am planning a log trip to France soon. To avoid getting charged 1.99 everyday I plan to switch off data roaming most of the time but I will probably want it once or twice a week to check my emails, read the news etc.

I have quite a few lesser used apps on my phone that automatically synch when roaming is on such as weather apps, but I don't particularly want those eating into my daily allowance. So what I am looking for is an app that turns off all synching when roaming but with the ability to allow maybe one or two apps to synch as normal or perhaps manually.

Does anyone know if there is anything out there?

Hi, rt100! I know I'm not the only one who is faced with the dilemma of having to decide whether or not to leave sync on all day, off all day, or remembering to manually refresh your Gmail and other applications. These decisions can be avoided by downloading the app called "Task Bomb”. Task Bomb will enable you to schedule when your sync turns on, the duration that the sync is enabled, and then have the sync automatically turn off. Just set it and forget it!

In wireless telecommunications, roaming is a general term referring to the extension of connectivity service in a location that is different from the home location where the service was registered....
