Root [International] Root my s4 help??

Hi all,

Thinking of root one my s4 UK and wondering if it's easy to do firstly because I seen software online to do it?
What are the pro and cons of it also because I don't really understand why people do it?? If it's definitely worth doing then can someone point me to a software which will work tidy, because I have seen a few but worried I will brick my mobile??
