Root [International] Rooting help

Hi there guys, finally got my S3! Total noob here, just came over from an iPhone.

I want to root my S3, any good tuts out there thats up to date? Also is it a good idea to flash a new ROM on to the phone e.g. omega rom?

Finally I noticed a software update on the notifications drop down, shall I go ahead and update?

Im using the UK 02 version of the s3 btw.

Figured out how to do it.

I used CF-Root 6.4.

I want to install Omega 3.0, do I need to backup and wipe everything before I can do that?

You should ALWAYS backup.

Do a nandroid backup via recovery but also Titanium backup. I recommend also downloading sms backup+

You should be able to flash omega without a wipe though. Although its good practice to wipe. I haven't yet.

Thanks man. I did all the backups excluding the SMS one as I only had the phone for a day plus I use whatsapp lol.

Installed the latest Omega and Siyah, overclocked to 1704 mhz, I tried 1800 but it keeps restarting or the screen goes black. The only way I found to reboot it is to take out the battery, guess my cpu cant handle 1800

No I did not as someone more experienced than me said he didnt do it either.

Cool thanks will give Omega a try. Did you keep all your apps when you installed Omega or just restore from Titanium? Do you recommend installing Siyah? Should I do it before or after I flash Omega?

Roms include kernels so if you want a different kernel, you have to flash it after a rom.

Nothing was missing, had all my apps and chat logs and whatnot.

Also SUroot, can I flash another kernal without having to wipe everything?

If I install Omega 9 XXBLG1 with Modem DXLF3 and dont like it can I reinstall stock XXBLFB and Modem XXLFB?

You can flash whatever you want. Not all modems work with all roms though

One quick question thats not about rooting.

When on my home screen, i pinch to open up the page choose and there is an annoying robot voice that says "open home screen page edit", how do I disable this?
I looked about in sounds but cant see to find anything lol.

Nope, thats not the one. That setting was disabled in the first place lol.

Im having the same problem. Please help. I even disabled talkback. It doesn't do it if the media volume is silent, but will still do it if the system volume is silent. Thanks.

Just another question, thought id post in here since I dont think making a new thread is good.

I installed villian rom yesterday and I did not like it so I went back to Omega (latest) and when I put my phone to sleep or wake it up, there are some flashy animation that I dont want because it slows down the response time, vid below...

To confirm, you did the following?

Went to v10 in omega files
Went to mods, crt off
Clicked the download link for remove crt effect
Booted into cwm recovery
Chose install zip from internal sdcard
Browsed to /Downloads
Selected remove_crt-off_effect.zip
