Root [International] SD Card

Also... Woops.. I just got a 8gb micro SD card. I only wanna move pictures and nandroid backups. How would I do this? Just move them to my compueter, put new SD card in phone, then move it in there? Where are my pics stored and how can I access my nandroids?

Android does this automatically, no need for profiles to make this happen.

Nice okay! So using rom manager i downloaded my nandroid backups to my computer. (It is in a .zip form though.) Once i do that how do i move it to my new sd card? Should i just get into the file on windows and directly copy it into my new sd card or just use the .zip? Also do i need to format or anything?

Forget that comment above... I just did it and put my new sd card in my s3. Weird thing is i checked rom manager and it said i still had 4 nandroids. I went into recovery and said i can restore a nandroid. But... i didnt copy anything. So is this right? I also didnt copy anything in Titanium Backup and i still have backups. Im afraid if i flash a kernel or rom, and something goes wrong, i dont actually have my things in my sdcard.

sounds like the backups are still on your phone memory but dont worry, when you do a reset in a custom recovery (philz/clockwork), it doesnt wipe the internal SD. Just dont use the factory reset in the phones settings.
Next time you make a nandroid, just choose "back up to sd card"

How do i do that so it saves to sdcard? Also what does reset in recovery wipe?
Edit: Just flashed Philz and there is a option now. But can i move my stock nandroid from where it is now to my external? Thanks

Yeah bro just use a file explorer on the phone and move the whole Clockwork folder to Ext SD. (Does anyone know if that will be ok when on 4.2.2?)

in 4.2.2 the path for the ext sd card changes so if the recovery does not support 4.2.1 onwards it will not read the path of the external sd card at all.

It is in /mnt/shell/emulated/cwm but when i go in it says no file found when there is actually one. I do have a zip i downloaded with rom manager but is that the correct format? Also its only lik 20 mb big...

Even though i flashed Philz recovery are all my files going to stay the same? Or is it going to make a philz recovery folder?

All future backups (made with Philz) will be in the /clockworkmod folder much like before, so all backups will go in the same folder. 'Backup to external sd card' in Philz is recommended :)

I will make sure i backup to external now. But how do i get into the backup i made in my internal /mnt/shell/emulated? WHenever i go in there it says no files found. In rom manager it says i cant go in it?

flash the philz touch recovery and see it should show u the path for internal properly after that as well. Otherwise what u can do is see the path the rom manager is defaulting to for the nandroid and copy the existing nandroid to that folder so it will be read properly.

I got aroma file manager and i moved the files. My stock rom seems to have 3 folders. Donwload. Backup. And Blobs. My AOKP seems to have 1 folder. Why?

Actually... Do i need a stock Nandroid backup? If something bad happens i can just restore my rom right now as i have a nandroid for it. And if i want to get back to stock i can just flash a zip on xda for stock samsung. RIght? But the thing that concerns me is i have no blobs folder for my AOKP Nandroid

you can keep the stock nandroid backup just to be safe on your pc and not on the phone. If something bad does happen and u are unable to boot you could either restore the nandroid or flash the stock firmware downloaded from sammobile to your phone via odin. Regarding the folders you have im not 100% sure on why there is a difference as i have never used an AOKP rom before always been sammy based roms. On my s4 right now i only have 1 folder for nandroid no blobs folder either.

Apparently TWRP doesn't have blobs so I flashed it. I love it. Much simpler UI and just much cleaner. I made a backup and deleted all my other nandroids. If I want to go to stock I will just flash with Odin. But if I flash another ROM and don't like it, I will restore AOKP
THANKS!

The 'new' blobs format (not that new now) in CWM and Philz (and other CWM based recoveries) differs in that it's incremental so you'll only ever have one blobs folder. This is referenced by the backups you have listed in the backups folder. Think is was done to cut down on space. You can change the format to something else in Philz's not sure about CWM - flashed Philz's ages ago to minimise SDS risk.

So your AOKP backup is there, nothing wrong with it'll be listed in the backups folder, along with any other backups you took via CWM using the blobs format.

TWRP uses a different format and creates a separate backup folder and files for each backup. Just be aware - don't try and restore a backup made with a different recovery than the one you're currently using.

Edit: not sure so I'd check that TWRP has been updated with kernel source fix to minimise SDS risk. Check the xda sticky post by rootSU in the S3 general forum.

Is it safe to delete all my /sdcard/0/0? I have like 3 i think. If all my nandroid and titanium backup are in /sdcard and /extsdcard am i safe?
