Root [International] st.bin has been downloaded automatically, is this a malware?

Hi All,

Last night my phone downloaded 3 files automatically:

st.bin
st-1.bin
st-2.bin

Is this a malware? I haven't installed any anti virus yet. Do I have to?

Have a look at more details for st.bin:
Type: File
Path: /storage/emulated/0/download/ (which is my default download folder)
Size: 4.66 KB

st-1.bin and st-2.bin are in the same folder and roughly same size.

Tnx in advance

Hello and welcome to Android Forums BruceyBB! :)

Unfortunately, you cannot tell malware by file names usually. It is far more likely that some app, that you have installed, requires those files.

If you are rooted, you could always revert to a pre-download nandroid backup.

Alternatively, you can download and install one of the antivirus prog's from the Play Store, such as Antivirus Security - FREE, Avast, Lookout, etc; and scan your system for malware.

Another tip is to disable, "Auto-update apps", in the Play Store settings so that you can monitor what is being installed on your phone.
