Root [International] Stuck in bootloader; can't get out of it - is my phone lost for ever?

Hello members of this forum :),

My name is Eric, a 26 year old Public Administration student in the lovely city of Rotterdam, The Netherlands.
Besides that I'm a wise ass who thought it to be funny to install the Cynagenmod. Unfortantly, things went wrong, and the situation is as follows:

My phone (HTC ONE M7) can only start in the bootloader screen. It's on fastboot usb. I already have adb on my PC (Windows). I want my phone to be restored to the stock, but I can't seem to find away to fix this. When I use a .exe - for example RUU_M7_UL_JB_50_HTC_Europe_1.20.401.1_Radio_4A.13.3227.06_10.27.1127.01_release_308001_signed_2_4 - then I get a error message 155. When I use a .zip, I get the message 'failed remote 12 signature'.

My bootloader is saying the following:

*** TAMPERED ***
*** RELOCKED ***
*** Security Warning ***
M7_UL PVT SHIP S-ON RH
HBOOT-1.57.0000
RADIO-4T.29.3218.08
OpenDSP-v32.120.274.0909
OS-6.09.401.11
eMMc-boot 2048MB

FASTBOOT USB

VOLUPVOLDOWNBLABLA

BOOTLOADER
REBOOT
REBOOT BOOTLOADER
POWER DOWN

When I go into BOOTLOADER and do recovery, it just restarts and goes back into the BOOTLOADER.

My question:

Is my phone still savebla, or is it a done case?

I'd be very thankfull for them who want to help me :).

Greetings,

Eric

As long as you can get into the bootloader it's fixable. So what exactly did you do when you tried to install CM, because it sounds like you've messed up recovery at least, probably the ROM too.

Do you take a backup using your custom recovery (which I guess you installed during rooting, even if it's not there now) before flashing cyanogenmod? If so then as long as you've not erased the backup since we could get the phone working by unlocking, flashing the same recovery, then going into recovery and restoring the backup.

That particular RUU .exe you have mentioned is an old one, specifically older than the phone's firmware. So I'm not surprised if it doesn't run, as those things only want to upgrade the phone, not downgrade. The newest I can find is RUU_M7_UL_K44_SENSE55_MR_HTC_Europe_4.19.401.9_R_Radio_4A.23.3263.28_10.38r.1157.04L_release_353069_signed_2-1.exe from http://androidruu.com/?developer=M7, though even that may be too old. You can use that with the phone in fastboot usb mode.

If that doesn't work there are other options, including reinstalling a custom recovery and flashing a new custom ROM, or installing a custom recovery and downloading a recovery backup of a stock ROM, but since you wanted to get it fully stock the RUU is the first thing to try.

Meanwhile I'll move the post over to the HTC One All Things Root forum, so it can be seen by more people with experience of the particular device.

Thanks Pugs!

Hadron, I fixed it by using the HTCDev-tool to unlock the bootloader (now I understand what 'locking' the bootloader means). Via this way I could restore the phone again, but of course back to the Cynagonmod and not the official HTC.

What I did is locking the bootloader (and thus wiping all my data from my phone, nice), then via fastboot usb trying to restore my phone back to the RUU you sent the link to. This one is indeed too old and so it cannot be updated via that RUU. I can't find the right RUU - I've been searching everywhere but can't find it. But now since it's working, I think I'll leave it at this until my abbonement ends.

Btw, I never made a backup, which is stupid, I know :).
