Root [International Tegra 3] before rooting??

So like many first posts: I bought my first android phone (htc one x).....I found the word 'root' on google....read a little bit about it....now want to jump head long into it....

But before I start:

I read about needing to back up nandroid, as I have no experience with any of this, is it possible to back this up or simply back up my phone before I go ahead and screw with it? If so, how?

Did a quick search through the forum for stuff to do before rooting but came up dry. So If this is a double post sorry about it... links instead of answer would probably be just as useful.

Yeah, like it says in the post you can't do a nandroid before rooting, you can use tools like Titanium Backup to backup all your apps and MyBackUp to back up your messages.

Don't restore system settings though as this can screw things up, like your settings or settings for default apps.

On my phone at the moment and at work so I haven't got time to find the link but search for "How to root HTC One X Redmond Pie" I followed that tutorial and it puts it in easy terms.

You will have to use the command line though but they show you how.
