Root [International Tegra 3] Cant update...

sahduk

Lurker
So I have a htc one x that has been rooted. Im not sure what firmware its on, but it should be the last one since I havnt updated for a while.

My problem is now there is a new update and when ever I try to update it takes me to clock mod after the phone resets.

Then the phone goes back to its normal state then I get an error report.

Hi there and again, welcome to the forums! (I saw your post a little earlier but Tarek was already on top of it)

Although I am not rooted myself, I have heard from many people that are rooted that they are not able to instal OTA updates the way they come because they are rooted. Most need to use a RUU (Rom Update Utility) to unroot their phone before they are able to install OTA updates.

We'll probably hear from some people that are actually rooted/used to rooting in the next few hours, but do you know how to get/use an RUU? I think that is what you will have to do in order to update. Or if you want to keep your root, then you have plenty of ROMs you can look at flashing instead.

As pointed out above, you can't install stock updates using clockwork mod or an alternative recovery. You can either flash the stock recovery (easy enough to do, we just need to know your current software version) or run the RUU.

Your 3rd option is what I'd actually do and that's install a custom ROM. :)
