Root [International Tegra 3] Help! Bootloop on Vodafone screen

JiaqiC

Newbie
Hi, i tried to 'push' boot.img onto my one x using android sdk platform tools.
However, didn't know VodaXXXX cid's had problems.
my CID is vodaP021

problem is, now, each time i boot phone, it bootloops on vodafone screen.
I have tried to restore a backup recovery using clockwork mod
but it still bootloops

corrupt backups?
im really confused
and starting to panic.

just want to be able to restore to a working rom.

any help?

The key thing is, don't panic (which is very easy for me to say, obviously), this might not be as bad as it seems. :)

What exactly have you done so far, have you just used "fastboot flash boot boot.img" to flash a boot.img from a specific ROM? Have you tried to update your hboot?

Also, what's your hboot version?

hi, i put cyanogen mod 10 zip into my root folder
then followed online instructions to push boot.img file in command prompt.

problems started after i rebooted.
then read about potential problems with voda cids.

not sure what my hboot is, i'll try to find out.

would changing the CID fix the problem? (not going to do it until i find out, just wondering)

thanks =)

Hi my hboot screen in bootloader shows this
*** unlocked ***
endeavoru pvt ship s-on rl
hboot-1.12.0000
cpld-none
microp-none
radio-2.1204.135.20
eMMC- bootmode: disabled
CPU- bootmode: disabled
HW secure boot: enabled
MODEM PATH: OFF

I rooted my phone using HTC dev
then installed SuperSU

reading online, it says apparently S-off means rooted?
how come mine still says S-on?

thanks for your help

at least my phone isnt bricked yet ;)

main problem for me is i cant get any rom working atm (including cwm backup), but i can get into bootloader and cwm recovery

reading online- here are some methods other people have tried to solve similar problems- which one do you suggest?

1) update hboot, make s-on to s-off
or
2) flash stock recovery ,clear storage then reinstall CWM and try pushing boot.img in fastboot and installing in recovery.

S-OFF isn't an option at the moment, because only certain devices are actually S-OFF, there's no exploit found for S-OFF as of yet.

If you've not actually updated the hboot, it just sounds like a bootloop which is a relatively common thing if you're flashing ROMs on a regular basis. Try starting the entire process again. Flash the boot.img, erase cache, then head back into clockwork to reflash the ROM and Google Apps package.

Which version of CWM are you using?

CWM 5.8.4.0

i've tried reflashing it. here is my step by step process

1)
- Also have copied cyanogem mod one x nightly zip file into phone root folder. Now can't access phone storage at all from computer

-Previously downloaded android sdk- copied platform-tools to a folder named android in C:

-Put boot.img file from cyanogen mod zip into platforms folder

2) open one x to bootloader- power and volume down
3) open to fastboot usb and connected phone to computer
4) opened command prompt in platform tools folder
4) typed fastboot flash boot boot.img
5) rebooted phone in CWM recovery
6) factory reset
7) installed zip
8) cleared cache and darvik cache
9) reboot phone
10) still stuck in cyanogen mod screen (i can see logo animation)

questions
- do i need to install any other zips?
- do i need to do anything with adb?
- what if i downloaded a stock htc kernel instead?

Just confirm you have the tegra 3 version before you install this recovery please?

That looks roughly right, but not how I do it. You're on the latest CWM but there would be no harm in giving another recovery a shot though. I like TWRP: TeamWin Projects - TWRP 2.3 - HTC One X (International / Tegra 3 / EndeavorU) | TeamWin

I've also changed your instructions below slightly:

5) type fastboot erase cache
6) rebooted phone in TWRP recovery
7) factory reset, wipe dalvik cache, and system
8) installed zip
9) Install Google Apps package (although you can skip this if you can't mount your phone atm), we can sort this later
10) reboot phone
11) Win! (hopefully)

See my edit please. Are you on the Tegra 3 version? If no, don't install that recovery!!

Edit - Disregard, I just noticed this from a few posts up:

*** unlocked ***
endeavoru pvt ship s-on rl

We're cool, that recovery is fine. :)

I hope that works!

also when i use commend prompt
i.e. to flash or to instal teamwin
it says 'error device not found'
but it stil lworks...?

THANKS!

what i did was, i just tried teamwin 2.3.1.0
and the phone booted fine!
updated
and now i have working cyanogen mod 10 nightly rom.

look at that
i'm guessing the problem was with the clockwork mod recovery (like you guessed =D)

maybe the recovery i used as corrupt or simply not suited for cm10 i have no idea.

ill stick with this for now, wont go back to cwm unless i find out what went wrong

thanks so much for taking the time to help me out with this problem, hope its not too cold in scotland! (too hot in australia right now)

since i installed cyanogen mod 10 which is (as you probably know) stock android with a few modifications
do i still need to install google apps package?

Hi El Presidente,
I'm the guy from earlier with the htc dev issue. haha now i'm having issue with the bootloop as mentioned in this thread.

i followed your steps. i'm on TeamWinRecovery already.

1. Phone in fastboot screen, PC in CMD, i enter fastboot flash boot boot.img, the .img file i took from the cyanogenmod 10 zip folder. and fastboot erase cache.
2. Select "Power Down" in the fastboot screen. Then hold vol - and power button to go back to HBOOT screen.
3. Select Recovery, which brings me to TeamWinRecovery.
4. restore factory setting, dalvik cache and system.
5. install the zip from cyanogenmod10, i decided to skip the GAPPS first.
6. reboot phone.

and now i'm stuck at the HTC screen that says HTC Quiet Brilliant.

I downloaded my cyanogenmod from here http://get.cm/?device=endeavoru

ENDEAVORU PVT SHIP S-ON RL
