Root [International Tegra 3] Rooting Help please

Hello.

I am looking to root my device,

But im worried if i root it i wont be able to recieve OTA Updates from HTC, How do i root the device and also be able to get OTA updates, thank-you.

Sorry im a bit of a noob, i have recently converted form ios after 3 years so i know how to jailbreak but rooting is new to me :) im loving the HTC ONE X though :)

Regards

Callum.

Generally it's not advisable to root, then accept an OTA update, at the very least you'll lose root. At most, it can cause more severe problems. The easiest/stablest root method involves installing clockwork mod which would mean you couldn't accept an OTA anyway. You could flash a stock recovery after root, but as per above, accepting an OTA Update isn't advisable when rooted anyway.

Why not just go for a custom ROM? :)

I personally don't want a custom Rom just yet, just root for blocking ads, what do u advise? Easiest option?

ARHD is a great ROM but after having tried it and a dozen other ROMs I decided to use Team Venom's Viper ROM which has everything I need and is stable and fast.

By the way, always use Clockwork Recovery in order to backup your current ROM and everything, and also use Titanium Backup to you backup your applications and system settings if you are planning on changing ROMs often in the future. OH and trust me, you WILL find yourself changing ROMs and trying new ones quite often. It's sort of like cigarettes, once you try one and like it, you'll find yourself dragging others! haha

Good luck and cheers.

Adding to the above, if you want to backup/restore a ROM, current or otherwise, MAKE SURE you use the same version of CWM recovery !!!
If you do a backup with ...let's say v1 and your new rom has v2, the v1 backup will not restore on v2 and viceversa :)
