Hi. I know very little about cell phones and will soon take delivery of an unlocked Samsung Galaxy Ace 2 running Android v2.3 Gingerbread.
I will be using it on a pay-as-you-go account. I will be making phone calls, sending SMS's and MMS's.
I will not be using the browser or sending email via the carrier internet connection.
I will be sending email and possibly using the browser via Wi-Fi.
After entering APN information so I can send and receive MMS's, will I have to disable the carrier internet connection until I want to send or receive an MMS so the phone doesn't remain constantly connected to the internet and run up by-the-minute charges even though the browser or email program are not running? Or will MMS messages somehow send and receive if the carrier internet connection is disabled? Now, I send an MMS and get charged for it. I accrue internet connection charges only if I open the carrier's browser.
Maybe this will clear up once I see some screens in the OS, but I'm worried if I'm not careful from the getgo the phone will be running up Internet charges even though the browser and email program aren't running.
I hope I was clear. I'll appreciate it if anyone can clear me up.
Thanks,
c
