Internet home page problem

I cannot find a way for the internet to default to the home page that has been selected in the internet settings. I have changed my home page away from the preset 3 UK page (which annoyingly requires you to switch off wi-fi), and selected Wikipedia instead. However whenever I open the internet app it goes to the page that I last viewed instead of to Wikipedia. Am I missing something in the settings? How can I rectify this irritation, albeit a minor one?

Thanks.

I think that the home page works when you add a new tab, but when you open the browser it does seem to retain the tabs from the previous session. If you close all of the tabs you are left with an about:blank page which will then reappear when you reopen the browser. only a new page will load the home page, it seems.

Yep. Stock browser always has done this on AOSP too. Because when you open the browser, youre not starting it from scratch. Its been hanging in the background, on your last page. Only killing it and starting from scratch will get you to your home page.

This has always been a bugbear of mine on stock browsers. I always set my home as a bookmark, but on this browser I have "local" bookmarks giving me eye ache, which I cannot delete / re-arrange.

I just tried killing it to see if it works. If you use the app switcher to swipe it closed, it doesn't work - still opened with two tabs. I had to go into app manager and force stop it to make it open with the home page.

It seems that the swipe-to-close thing doesn't actually kill processes

Interesting. On my old HTC Desire it was never a problem - provided that I had kept on hitting the back button to exit the program, the internet would always start with the HTC page. I am considering getting Chrome Beta. Does anybody know whether this behaves better with regard to the home page?

You can change the order of your local bookmarks. This also works with any other accounts (gmail, Comcast) I personally use my gmail account for my bookmarks.

Press drawer, choose local, then home, move around, done.

One question why are you using your gmail or other email account? The local account is your phone. Some of the local bookmarks your unable to delete (stock). Like Verizon home, your mobile guide

In the Phone Settings not the Browser, select Application manager. The select All top right. Now scroll down to Internet and select it. Clear cache and then Force Close. When you open the browser it should open to the home page of your choice.
