Internet problem

I hope some people can help me with this. I turned my laptop on today (running windows 7 home premium 64bit if that maY make a difference ) and I cannot connect to the Internet, when I run the trouble shooter I get the problem
'wireless network connection doesn't have a valid ip address'
I'm not the best with computers but I have tried a few things to fix, like a system restore and deleting the network then adding it again.
Any help would be very grateful

woke up this morning, reset the router and its been working fine for half a hour now have to haope it stays.

try it to set auto select IP address.

I was gonna say to reset the router as well, maybe the modem. My internet went out on us over the weekend I just power cycled the modem and router.
