I recently acquired my first Android phone, HTC Desire. It had a few problems, so I am learning how to change things by rooting the phone. It was a lovely computer and a horrible phone.
Now I have bricked it, so I got a new Motorola Defy. I still think I can learn to undo the damage to my Desire and extend the functions of a smart phone!
I am not into social networking, but I like all the other useful things a smart phone can do. Now I can't do without it.
 
I'm the same. I'm way spoiled to having the world at my fingertips at all times. I'm sorry your rooting of your Desire went South on you. You will find here a root section just for your bricked phone. The good people there can offer up your best bet to resurrect your Desire.
