Hello Everyone;
I'm tony, and I've been running LINUX since 1995, when I had to download the source code over a 1200 Baud MODEM, compile it, and then install it.
My original laptop (a Toshiba T4850CT with 256MB of HDD, 8MB of memory, and a 33MHz DX4 (?) CPU) has been running, non stop, without a crash, for almost 20 years!
My wife wanted a tablet, so she bought a Samsung 10.1 @ Costco. I told her that if (since) she can't operate a simple windoze laptop, that she is not going to do well with the tablet - which works completely different from what she knows about the laptop. I even helped her by loading the 256-page manual on it so she could read about how it works (modification time shows that it has never been accessed!
Sure enough, she got mad at it, and didn't want it. She sold it to me for $200.oo. I played with it a bit and when I found out it was running LINUX, I "got-all-happy" and started to do research on it. When I discovered it could be rooted, I did more research on that and went to ROOTANDROID.COM and had them do it. Yeah, I know: that's the wimpy way out - but they did it in about 45 minutes, set everything up, loaded the toolbox and other stuff, and it works PERFECTLY! Well-worth the $45.oo for the whole shootin' match! - and, after reading all the postings about how some folks tried to root it themselves and wound up turning their phone/tablet into a brick, well, I was even happier. James @ rootandroid.com ran into a problem and had to load a bunch of drivers on it. I'm sure it would have taken WEEKS to straighten out the problems I would have run into if I did it myself.
That was Monday. I've been tied-up all week and now (finally!) have time to play with it.
I've installed a bunch of my shell files on it. Next is to find out if it supports a GCC so I can start writing programs for it.
regards,
tony (TOMOTH)
