Introduction & Voltage problem

I've just joined the forum as a new (Onda V801) tablet owner. Have rooted it and updated the firmware, but am now left without any battery status - it shows 100% all the time. Using an App to display voltage helps, but the voltage reading is only updated on boot, so sits at the same voltage until the juice has completely run out. Any ideas?

Welcome to the forums, JackB321.

Inaccurate battery capacity and voltage parameters will crop up with some rooted devices. Often it's a matter of clearing out the battery cache/memory via special apps for that purpose.

I'm not familiar with the Onda V801, but depending on which ROM you're running, stock or custom, I'm thinking that a battery calibration could be performed after the cache/memory clearing. That's done in different ways by different users, most often a regimen of draining to lowest capacity without losing functionality, then full recharge, done repeatedly.

We're seeing some discussion of various Onda models in http://androidforums.com/general-tablet-talk/ and http://androidforums.com/other-androids/, but we don't have a forum dedicated to the Onda. I'll make a request for that in the Suggestion Box and Feedback area. ;)

Thanks Frisco. I tried clearing the battery data and cache, but no change. I think the main problem is that the battery voltage is only updated at boot. However, I do get a continuous, real time current reading. I am still trying to find out how to get regular voltage readings.

That does sound like something that would happen on a rooted device.
