Hi! I've been reading the forum here for a little while without posting, and now I feel like I want to participate. I had been getting increasingly frustrated with my Eris' increasingly brick-like qualities and Verizon's complete inability to mitigate let alone solve my problems. From everything I had read, Froyo was going to fix a lot of the problems I was having, so I was waiting to find out when the 2.2 update would be pushed out to my device. When it was confirmed that it would never be coming, I decided to do more research about this whole rooting thing.
Thanks to Jon Suh's guide, that's exactly what I did this weekend. I have a phone again! It's not perfect, but I'm looking forward to life with a rooted device (and potentially voided warranty) and forums like this one to learn more.
