Help invalid number

hey,
When sending messages to some contacts my phone comes up saying that there numbers are invalid. I think this is due to the facebook for sense, since some people put there numbers in without having the + before +447 so it comes up on my phone just as 447blahblahblah even when i have put there numbers in correctly into my google contacts, there doesn't seem to a way to send to that number, unless the number is majorly different. Is there anything i can do to stop this? (without removing the linking to facebook or asking my friends to change their numbers)

There was a thread on this the other day. I think they said something about settings one of the numbers to something else (fax for example), and then setting it back. Have a search.
