I would use an Android app called eshare to set your phone as an ftp server ( on wifi) and then connect to its file system with the ipads Web browser.
Or
Open a Dropbox account. Put the photos in Dropbox. Put the same Dropbox account on both devices. This need only be for a short while if you don't trust cloud storage.
