From what I read it sports 5mp camera, plus a front facing camera.

still no widgets. No 8mp Cam...

Honestly its a nice phone but doesn't blow inc out of the water by any means. Especially when we get froyo.

Cmon you gotta know by now that iPhone releases don't ever have any 'real' updates! ;)

Anyways, the kid who lost the prototype when he was drunk killed the hype for all the apple kids so it's been apparent for a while as to what it has and what it looks like.

I'm sure it will still be a decent phone though.

I'd get it if Steve Jobs quit and it switched to Froyo.

The 5mp camera is deceptive because MP doesn't always equal better pics. They tried emphasizing high quality pictures in respect to the lighting. I think it will perform well, that said, my camera on my Incredible is great for me.

iPhone 4 will support HD video recording. I don't care personally because if I want to record high quality video I don't want to be doing it on my phone.

They now have some multitasking which is good for iPhone users...still doesn't touch Android.

The device looks like it's going to be the crispest screen out there, but that doesn't mean the device is great.

Front facing camera is a gluttonous piece of hardware. If you need face to face chat get a webcam and skype. I don't think it has a great place in the mobile phone world as it's going to eat so much data. At this point this will only work over Wifi.

All in all they haven't made any real significant improvements, but iPhone users will delight. I'll stick to my Incredible, at least I know it will be stable when I am trying to make a phone call, which we must all remember is the real reason you're carrying that thing in your pocket.

In my opinion Apple really needed to bring the wow factor to curb Android's acceptance rate. This phone doesn't even come close to doing that. Froyo is out, and hopefully Inc. users will see it sooner than later, and of course Gingerbread has been announced as well. Android now has another year to make its edge of Apple become insurmountable.

The real issue is that the iPhone OS can no longer bring a wow factor except to Apple disciples. The simplicity of grid icons is good for many people, but the more people that get interested in mobile devices, the more they move away from the iPhone interface. It really just isn't good enough for someone that likes to keep up to date especially with social media sites like Facebook and Twitter.

They need to completely overhaul their OS and make it almost Mac-esque to receive another major influx of new users. Well that or move to a network that isn't completely atrocious.

If they offered the iPhone 4 with Android 2.2 I would be all over it haha. But in all honesty that thing does look sexy (which of course doesn't make a great device.) I'm very VERY happy with my Dinc.

Ok, as much as we all like to trash talk the apple iphone, I have to give credit where it's due. It has a beautiful screen which is better than the incredible, 4g, front facing camera, gyroscope, better rated battery life, wifi n capable, 720p recording, etc.

So, yeah..it's a very decent phone to say the least and to those who says otherwise is just being biased for the sake of it and unrelenting belief that android/htc is better. If you look at it by pure specs and capability, apple did a great job with it.

The one major gripe I have with the phone's design, which is aesthetically and engineering-wise great but real-world use is iffy would be the glass design in the front and back of the phone and the fact that the steel band around the phone acts as the antenna system. Dropping that phone would be major suckage and I know a lot of iphone users don't have a decently padded case for it or if any to begin with.

Just my 2 cents. I still love my HTC Incredible tho.

The first phone that comes out and has nuclear power and/or runs a week on a couple drops of water is going to excite me :-)

I watched the blogs looking for some wow, and nothing jumped out at me. I left ATT/Apple < 30 days ago... Still quite happy I switched. 1ghz processor (day late). multitasking (day late) front facing camera (bleh... not for me). video editing on the phone... I hate doing it on a PC, can't imagine on a little phone.

I agree.

Apple and the iPhone are kind of in a sinking ship. They developed a great phone and they made everyone else play catch up. They stopped really making jumps and people passed them, it's simple. TBH, the OS on the Palm phones is better than the iPhone, IMO. HP came through and swept up Palm, so you know that a giant like HP will be in on the action soon enough. There is a lot more competition and Apple might just be in trouble.

The phone will be great, no doubt about it. It will still have a ton of apps and a lot of great features that will make it attractive. It will be a solidly designed phone with an OS that, while limiting, will allow you to do plenty. I love my Incredible and I wouldn't trade it, but the next iPhone won't be a slouch.

That said, it isn't nearly as open or as powerful as Android. Their only being one device makes it easier to develop for, but the platform makes Android more accessible. There will be heated words and battles to come, and I look forward to it. I'm just glad to have had the most powerful smartphone on the market for a short time. WOO!

I gotta admit, the hardware makes me jealous, but that weak OS and at&t just kill it for me. Plus, 2.2 coming around the bend for us incredible users keeps me loyal to android. This whole thing is only good for us. I just wish HTC and co. Would get on making android phones with hardware like that (the screen  ) before Apple does it.

You guys are underestimating apple fanboys and the hip trend. I mean, how many of really think that the Apple Ipad would be this successful? Yeah..it'll be the same as with this phone too...

Backlit sensors are game changers in small sensor camera performance. Battery life seems to even better than the 3GS which is far better than an Incredible.

It kicks all HTC's phones butts right now because the A4 is far faster and sips less power than a Snapdragon. There's also that it's stainless steel and real glass, far better than the horrid fiction fit cheap rubber back on the Inc. The RETINA display is also better than Super AMOLED.

Where it loses is the 256mb of RAM. Although to be fair, all Androids can't use their full 512mb until 2.2.

It will be interesting to see how the Galaxy S and the Hummingbird stack up in performance. Luckily for everyone else, Apple does major hardware updates in 2-3 year cycles so I expect Samsung and HTC to catch up near the end of 2011 and possibly exceed the hardware specs.

It's too bad there is no GV integration as that is my killer feature and one I can't live without easily.

My father has an iPhone 3gs and that isn't true.

But then again you can't multi-task on it so if you are multi-tasking and using widgets, than your battery is going to drain quicker.

But if used somewhat the same, battery isn't amazing.

Ummm...somebody correct me if I'm wrong; but the new iPhone is NOT a 4g phone.

it looks alright.. but the features suck. os looks the same like older models .. i still love my incredible.

Yeah my friends have Iphone and the battery life is really no better. NOT TO MENTION... The resolution to HTC Inc battery problem is to open the back cover and replace it. Still can't do this with Apple. They lock down everything, providers, video (no flash and betting on HTML5), batteries, backgrounds, music service, HA my buddy was telling me he can't even change his text messaging ring tone to anything but the 4-5 stock that come with the phone.

Not much of this changes with the new Iphone, and is the exact reason why I will never put a dime towards their company, and I'm not an android fanboy either, I hated apple ever since they screwed up my 60 gigs of music and made it completely unsortable with their awful Itunes software.

Screw Apple/ATT, looks like the some ole IPhone to me. Verizon/Inc FTW. Yes I am a DInc Fanbois bring on the flaming.

No, but ATT will never really be 4g. They are making updates and improving on their 3g service. So I guess when they release their LTE like service the Iphone will already be connected and reap the benefits.

I disagree. My stock inc battery is superior to all 3 of my friends' 3gs.

This is why i laughed at the iPhone 4 battery life. I expected much more and now expect better from my phone when I upgrade.
