Help iPhone 5 - help getting video file off the phone

My buddy.. recorded an important meeting on his iPhone. about 1 hr long, huge file.
The battery died towards end of meeting.

On the phone.. we can play the video.
but we can not find a way to get that file copied off the iPhone 5.
we try to email or dropbox, etc... file gives and error.

when connected to a computer (windows).. with iTunes. It does NOT see the file!
it sees all the other videos that he has made before.

we are NOT sure what is the issue.
1. file is too large?
2. when the battery died.. did it not close the recording/ the video file correctly?

anyone have any ideas how to fix this?

one idea I just had...

install a file sharing app.. that uses WIFI.
something like "ES File Explorer" app.

it might just have the same error...

My guess is the video wasn't closed correctly when the battery died and it's truncated, and iOS is having difficulty with that.

One possible idea, jailbreak the iPhone and examine the files directly with a PC or Mac. That way you should be bypassing whatever iOS and iTunes wants to do. Obviously jailbreaking is not without risk, and is warranty void. Jailbreaking an iOS device does give you direct access to all the files on it via disk mode, that's what I did when I had an iPhone and iPod Touch anyway.

Oh boy that doesn't sound very good :/

Hmmm sheesh... apple .... loves to lock in and close everything hey... sheesh...

Anyway - I no longer have an iphone. What you might want to try and do like you said dan is get an application file sharing from the store first with out any jailbreaking but like Mike says if that sadly doesn't work you might have to jailbreak it and access the files through a file browser of some kind.

I haven't jail broken in years so my information could possibly be out of date but taking a quick look through the inter tubes will sort that out.

Try give this a shot - it supports both wifi, bluetooth and USB as well and it looks like you can install it straight from the store with no need of jail breaking so worth a try for starters.

Both PC and Mac

I can't believe in this modern day and age they don't have an inbuilt file browser in their os - wow what a shame.

Wow that is very bad.

you can browse directories in your iPhone, accessing folders that you cant see in itunes. so yuo can try to export that videofile from your phone to your computer. i have been using it to backup an appdata library if the app crashes.
