iPhone 5 vs future Android phones performance

I saw this review on AnandTech that compared iPhone 5 performance to several high-end Android devices. The iPhone seems to have the upper hand in most of the tests. How long do you think until Android devices catch up or pass the current iPhone in terms of benchmark scores? Are there already announced devices that will offer similar performance?

Remember that IOS is catered to Iphone hardware that's why it runs so fast and efficient out of the box. Jailbreak your Iphone and start pumping in tweaks, useful utils etc. it won't run as fast as it did out of the box :) Trust me, as an Iphone user for 3 years and heavy in the JB community, it's really not accurate to put a Iphone and an Android phone side by side and compare speed. There is so much customization that goes on with an android phone IMO that speed isn't always the decision maker. I prefer it to work the way "I" want it to then worry about the split second speed sacrifice... again, this is my preference.

Meh benchmarks.

If your going to do it. Do it right and get a hold of an s3 running jb

They're comparing a phone that just came out running apples newest software to one running software that's a year old

Rxpert83, agreed.

I'm not too concerned with the speed thing, I find that the customization alone will compensate for IOS's speed. Even though IOS is faster by a smidgen, some things on the IOS take 3-4 steps to accomplish I can do same task in one step in Android, this is how I measure speed.

Don't get me wrong, Iphone's are good devices but I'm at the point where I prefer not to be limited to what I can do with my device so I made the executive decision to move to the S3 which I've been more then happy with. That plus the 2 high capacity back up batteries and extra 32GB memory card in it, I'm in heaven :)

I have an S3 running JB and I'm pretty happy with it. I don't have a case of penis phone envy, I'm just curious if the hardware cycle has changed. From what I've seen, usually the latest iPhone comes out, beats the competition in most benchmarks, and then within a year Android devices come out that take the crown back. I wonder how long Apple can keep coming out with hardware that is ahead of the pack.

is your S3 a Dual-Core or the Quad-core?

but.. what they are saying... the iphone's OS is not weighted down like the android OS. because IOS is restrictive... it can make allowances to help speed.

if you can strip away the OS on both iphone5 and the S3... and just run a basic basic OS to run benchmark speeds tests... then you can have a better picture of real hardware performances

It benches faster but not huge differences, you're talking matter of seconds if that. Not enough for me to switch back. I'm enjoying my S3 the more I use it, I'm a customizing freak and made the jump from the Iphone to the S3 this year, so far no regrets, maybe 1 or 2 apps that were my favs are not avail for Android but I suspect that will change soon.

I've been jailbreaking iphones for years and have been a long time Android "hobbyist", Android has grown up a lot since about 3 yrs ago, it's been a long but worthwhile wait, it can only get better IMO.

In the end, it's what's comfortable for YOU, we can beat each other over who's better, faster and prettier but this was the phone for ME at this time, who knows, Iphone 6 might be better when it comes out and I won't hesitate to jump over if it does what I need it to do at that time, I'm neither a fanboy nor am I brand specific, hell, if Walmart creates their own brand of phone that's better, I would pick one up :)
