Iphone 5 vs Galaxy s3

I'm due an upgrade from my old incredible2 which I have really liked and am considering these 2 phones. Right now I am leaning heavily towards the iphone. My wife has the s3 and its a nice phone but I really find its size to be rather awkward to handle, especialy with one hand compared to my old incredible. The iphone size seems to be a better fit..at least to me. And when looking at the in depth review done by Anand Tech it looks like the iphone beats the s3 in just about every performance category.

I suggest you pop into a store that has live units and have a play around. Additionally, check out comparisons on You Tube. I have found that the phones are on par with each other. The S3 topping out on most occasions. iphone is a bit dead these days - nothing that new, boring if anything.

I too came from an incredible 2. I also found the size awkward at first. Now that I have used this phone for a while I find it awkward when I use my wife's incredible 2. You will find you will quickly get used to the size difference. (This sounds like something from 50 shades of grey :-\)

Lol.

I also have both. Going to sell the ip5. I would say they are equally fast but the S3 has more options and once you get used to the size it is tough to go back to smaller screen. Honestly felt like the ip5 had nothing on the 4s other than LTE.

MOTOROLA RAzR M?

LG OPTIMUMS G?

Nexus 2?

A bunch of new phones are coming out over the next 30 days. If you don't like them, the iPhone will be waiting for you with it's stale 5 year old same OS, dead icons, restrictive format and scratch prone surface. I really like the virtual keyboard glitch, and now the time and date constantly getting out of sync. Sorry, but the iPhone 5 is a.piece of crap put together by 14 year old girls.

The S3 has about 50% longer battery life when talking on 3G and on the Geekbench 2 benchmark the "Overall Score" for the S3 is much higher than the I5.
These two things are even without going into all the features the S3 has which the I5 does not.
Finally the S3 will have Jellybean soon and with it Google Now. Go to YouTube and search "Siri versus Google Now" and every single video shows GN owning Siri.
This is my favourite Face Off: Hilarious Siri Vs. Google Search - YouTube

Its really funny when you read the hurt comments from the Apple fans "I thought you said Stallion too", "my Siri works perfectly" , ignoring the fact that Siri loses all of the tests

But you don't use Google Now, or Siri if you had an iPhone. I'd put money on that.

It's a gimmick feature on both OS'. I've never seen someone shouting at their phone outside to find information. In your own home, it may be fun to play with, but you have a desktop computer.

GN is no reason to get an Android phone, Siri is equally useless.

As for "iPhone 5 vs S3", I made the choice of S3 after 4 years of iPhones. As far as I see it, they're both equally good phones. I love the S3, and I'd probably love an iPhone 5. I wanted to try Android for a change. So far I'd classify it as iOS with more options, fun, and a cheaper design team.

Speed-wise, I find the Android OS snappier purely because it lacks animations like iOS. Apps just open, rather than spinning on screen, or zooming in. It's more "basic", or to-the-point.

If you don't like the S3, but like the i5, why make this thread? Your decision has been made, regardless of what us Internet people say! ;)

"But you don't use Google Now"

Obviously not on my S3 since it doesn't have it. My Galaxy Note 2 does have it and I will use it, though I've only had the N2 for 3 days.

"or Siri if you had an iPhone. I'd put money on that."

I don't have an Iphone and have never owned one. If I did own one I would use Siri, so you would lose your money.

"In your own home, it may be fun to play with, but you have a desktop computer."

I have a high spec self built PC, but when I ask Google Now a question the response is instantaneous and accurate. Since my GN2 sits next to my PC it is convenient to use.

I assume when you say "you" you don't mean me? If you do, I refer you to my second answer.

Please enlighten me as to when you talk to your phone, in public? It's kinda...how shall I say...strange? Anti-social?

How did "high spec self built PC" find its way in there?!

Assumption correct.

From personal experience, and literally (seriously) every single person I personally know, these voice things are barely used in any serious context - and certainly should not be used to decide on a ~

"Please enlighten me"

That may be beyond my capabilities.

"How did "high spec self built PC" find its way in there?! "

Because I cannot ask my PC a question and receive a meaningful answer.

Wow you seem to know a lot more than all the people that do reviews for a living. I guess I should listen to you lol

The best person to review the phones would be you. Have you ever owned an iphone? Did you like it? Do you like your droid? I think the hardest thing about switching is changing the way you are used to doing things. Do you have the time or even what to change the way get your email, music & files. You already know how android works, go tinker with the iphone to see what you prefer. Remember apple is very proprietary so dont plan on customizing anything. Good luck
