iPhone double click home button to clear apps using memory - S3 has....??

I know you can hold (long press) the home button and then swipe to remove apps from the recent list. Someone who knows more about ICS should answer as to whether this actually closes apps.

I use a cache clearing app to free memory.

Long press the physical button on your S3. Hit Remove all. Any other applications you want to get rid of go to settings > Application manager > Running.

hold home, go to task manager, active applications. then click on the apps and then hit end or end all.

That's all too much work for me, so I use an app called multitask manager, which lets you do the same thing by just hitting home once to bring up a list of all the apps you have running. Then you can kill them or tap them to switch back and forth between them.

I can't believe I still have to download an app to do that. It should be built in if you ask me.

Holding the home key and hitting "remove all" does the exact same thing you are talking about.

yeah, I guess it does. I just wish there was an option to just show active applications on that screen.

You guess it does? When you hold that button all the applications that show on that screen are ACTIVE applications. You can flick left or right to close the active running applications.

You can run a test for your self. Hold down the home button. Hit remove all. Then go straight to task manager. Then look at your active applications. No applications will be there because you closed all of them.

Anyway you are confusing the OP. He simply wants the same solution on his S3 that he had with IOS. And to do that all you need to do is hold the home button and hit remove all. Simple.

You really don't need to do this. The Android operating system will close out extra programs automatically as it needs to.

That is also true. Its under the Developer options. But again I am trying to go of what the OP wanted. Which was the Android equivalent of closing apps like IOS does when you double tab the IOS home key. This process is used more for just saving battery. Helps to force close apps you are having problems with as well.

Actually that list also contains apps that you've already closed.

But yeah, clearing them all does close the ones that are running. So that'll work for what he wants to do.
